Lesson focus: Dribbling while being guarded by a defender
Previous lessons taught: Review of skill focus cues for dribbling and passing, Footwork and Dribbling Stations, “Give-and-Go,” Youtube video clips of footwork, dribbling, 1 vs. 1 defending, and the “give-and-go”
Facilities: Classroom, blacktop, grassfield
Supplies: 15-17 soccer balls, cones, station signs (cones with cone collars)

encouragement, 1-5 finger scale survey, “Thumbs-up” survey

7 min: Review of Standards, daily lesson agenda, Youtube video clips and brief discussion, intro 3 vs. 3 modified game rules
6 min: Locker room procedures
2 min: Intro dribbling and passing stations including the give-and-go, footwork, and dribbling around a defender
13 min: Students participate in stations
2 min: Gather in and Review 3 vs. 3 modified game rules
13 min: Students participate in modified games
2 min: Clean-up & gather in
2 min: Closure
6 min: Locker room procedures
Closure Questions:
1) Think about some strategies a defender can use to prevent being beat by an opposing player in a 1 vs. 1 situation. Turn to an elbow partner and share two of these strategies.
2) Raise your hand if you and your partner would like to share one strategy with the class.
3) Raise your hand if you would like to demonstrate a dribbling or footwork skill you have mastered and would use to get around a defender in a 1 vs. 1 situation.

Differentiated Instruction:
1) English Language Learners and visual learners: During the lecture portion (Intro and Closure) of the lesson I will attempt to call on EL students when possible to check for understanding. I will display content-specific language on the board so all students will hear and see the vocabulary. The Youtube clips in this lesson model the activities and allow EL students to see the drills. I will also use physical demonstration out on the blacktop.
2) Students with below average physical ability level: I will visit groups and repeat directions and demonstrations as necessary. I will also use encouragement and offer more basic skill options at the stations as needed.
3) Students with above average physical ability level: I will offer more advanced skill options at the stations as needed.
